Diabetic Recipes & Cook Books
I am going to be putting some of my favorite recipes here in this section of the site along with some cook books I have found that can be purchased from various places.
But for starters one of the MOST important recipes I can share with you is EAT!
"What do you mean by that Ben?" you might be saying.
Well when I first got Diabetes, I went to a dietician, and she ask me what my habits were, you see it is a miss conception that over weight people just eat & eat & eat. Not always the case, it is what and when they eat that can make you fat!
I have been self employed for many years in one way or another, and at the time I not only was online, But had a business offline too. I had a Safety Eyewear business at the time And I catered to the Oil companies, so I told her a typical day for me was to get up and drink a pot of coffee, then hit the road to take care of my customers, and more often than not I would also get busy and not eat lunch either ( unless I was taking a client out for lunch),
Well that is the worst thing we can do.....no breakfast & no lunch, our metabolism never gets started, we don't start burning any fuel because no fuel to burn , So our body starts to store fat, and BOOM because we don't eat WE GET FAT! I would then come home at night eat and go to bed so my body would learn to store the fat knowing it was not going to have any calories to burn the next day.
I know for years ....we have been told Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but in this busy life we all lead now ....who has time, WELL MAKE TIME! because it is so true.
Old habits die hard, I am just not hungry in the morning, But I started MAKING myself eat breakfast in the morning, like a bowl of oatmeal ( which I hate by the way) and maybe a couple pieces of wheat toast, stopped putting sugar in my coffee, and that was about it as far as my first commitment to changing my diet.
Well eating that breakfast in the morning jump starts your metabolism and starts your body to burning calories.
So just making myself eat breakfast, not changing much more than that except NO SUGAR and in 4 week I lost 20 lbs
So for you newbie diabetics out there here is your first recipe.....EAT! It really makes a difference.
Now I know not everybody fits in my scenario, but for those that it does, take my advise EAT BREAKFAST! it will help your sugar levels, Thats why I started the FORUM on this site for other scenarios, I am hoping other people will share their stories, and their story may fit you!
